Pneumatic Rotary Actuator SIRCA AP / APM

The SIRCA AP / APM series are rack & pinion pneumatic actuators designed for 1/4-turn valves, including ball, butterfly, and plug valves. The range includes DA (double acting) and SR (spring return) variants.

Technical Operating Limits

Sizes: AP0 to AP12, piston diameters Ø32 to Ø330 mm.
Operating angle: 90°.
AP: travel stop adjustment at 90° open, ±3°.
APM: travel stop adjustment at both open and closed positions, ±5°.
Air supply: 2–8 bar for DA, 3–8 bar for SR.
Torque output: 2.4 to 7,500 Nm.
Ambient temperature: -20 to +80 °C (standard).

Construction and Sealing

Body is extruded aluminum with anodized or hard anodized finish. End caps and pistons are die-cast aluminum. Shaft is nickel-plated steel. Standard sealing uses NBR O-rings. Sliding and guiding rings are fitted to reduce friction. Springs are preloaded in cassettes for safer disassembly.

AP, APM, DA or SR Selection

Selection is based on valve torque (with safety margin), minimum available air pressure, and required fail position. DA is used where pneumatic actuation is needed in both directions. SR is used for fail-close or fail-open operation in case of air loss.

Applications

Suitable for isolation and automation in water networks, instrument air, gases, chemical auxiliary lines, HVAC, water treatment, and industrial plants. The actuator is only exposed to pneumatic air; process media compatibility concerns the valve.

What is checked during maintenance?
Air pressure, moisture, O-rings, open/close times, travel stops, limit switches, and pneumatic connection leaks.

When is APM required?
When precise mechanical adjustment is needed at both valve end positions.
