The Wave Box Ex ia is a position feedback unit for valves equipped with pneumatic rotary actuators. It is used to transmit open/closed signals to PLC, DCS, or SIS via intrinsically safe circuits. The device does not come into contact with process media and is not selected based on valve PN or Class.
Suitable for Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 21, and Zone 22 with the following markings:
Certified under IBExU 11 ATEX 1154 and IECEx IBE 13.0042, compliant with IEC/EN 60079-0 and IEC/EN 60079-11.
Available with Vestamid or aluminum enclosure. The mounting base is adjustable, made from reinforced polyamide or stainless steel, for actuators per VDI/VDE 3845. Variants include EV…IA, EA…IA, and options with extended terminal space or 3D visual indicator.
Depending on part number, the unit can accept:
For mechanical gold contacts: Ui 30 V, Ii 15 mA, Pi 35 mW. For Ex ia circuits: IIC Ui 28 V / Ii 200 mA, IIB Ui 30 V / Ii 450 mA.
Permitted ambient temperature depends on enclosure material, sensor type, and temperature class. For Vestamid: -25°C to +70°C. For aluminum: variants with lower limits -55°C / -40°C / -25°C and upper limits up to +70°C for T6 or +100°C for T4.
When is Wave Box Ex ia selected?
When position feedback is required in Zone 1/21 with Ex ia barrier or isolator.
Can it be opened for maintenance?
Maintenance is permitted only by qualified personnel following Ex installation guidelines.
The wave box is our classic and an absolute all-rounder. We can install everything from mechanical microswitches to inductive sensors, slot initiators, double sensors or reed switches. It is available in plastic and aluminum and comes with an adjustable mounting bridge, optionally made of glass fiber reinforced plastic or stainless steel.
