MEI BR / BRT Food-Grade Butterfly Valve

The MEI BR/BRT is a sanitary butterfly valve designed for food, beverage, and clean process fluid lines, primarily used for on/off isolation and basic throttling. The series covers DN100–DN400 and features a body/disc made of stainless steel SS 316L / EN 1.4404.

Construction and Surfaces

  • Top and bottom flange: EN 1.4404 / AISI 316L
  • Disc: EN 1.4404 / AISI 316L
  • Support: EN 1.4403 / AISI 304
  • Bushings: PTFE
  • Internal finish: mirror polished, Ra <0.1
  • External finish: satin, Ra <0.8
  • Optional: electropolished or special finish upon request

Seats and Sealing Options

The series is available with food-grade silicone seat per FDA 177.2600, EPDM seat, or PTFE shell with internal silicone or EPDM. Seat selection should be based on product, temperature, CIP chemicals, pH, fats, and contact time. Silicone/EPDM components are not interchangeable with PTFE versions.

BR and BRT Variants

The BR and BRT differ mainly in connection geometry/types. BR features SX, SR, DC, CX, CR, DR connections, while BRT offers CXTW, CRTW, DCT, CXT, CRT, DRT. Selection should align with piping standards, disassembly capability, and cleaning requirements.

Automation and Torque

The top flange is ISO 5211: F05 for DN100–DN250, F07 for DN300, and F10 for DN350–DN400. The series can be equipped with pneumatic actuators, proximity limit switches, and solenoid valves. Indicative torques are 30–200 Nm for silicone seat and 40–220 Nm for PTFE seat.
