Eurotec Neptun Box Ex ED / K2D / K3

The Neptun Box Ex is a stainless steel limit switch box for position feedback on valves equipped with pneumatic rotary actuators. The shaft follows actuator rotation, and cam-operated switches provide open/closed signals to PLC, DCS, or SIS systems. The unit is not exposed to process media; selection is based on Ex zone, gas/dust group, temperature class, switch type, and actuator compatibility, not PN/Class.

Material and Installation Environment

Enclosure and external components are made from stainless steel 1.4571, suitable for offshore installations, chemical plants, saline atmospheres, sulfurous gases, and environments with ammonium nitrate.

Explosion Protection Versions

NEK…ED – Ex de / Ex t: For Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 21, Zone 22. Marking: II 2G Ex de IIC T4–T6 Gb, II 2D Ex t IIIC T80°C–T135°C Db. Accepts 1–3 mechanical Ex-d switches.
NEK…K2D – Ex t: For dust areas Zone 21 and Zone 22. Marking: II 2D / II 3D Ex t IIIC T80°C–T135°C. Max internal power dissipation: 1 W.
NEK…K3 – Ex ec / Ex tc: For Zone 2 and Zone 22. Marking: II 3G Ex ec IIC T5–T6 Gc, II 3D Ex tc IIIC T80°C–T95°C Dc.

Temperature Ratings and Selection

ED: T6/T80°C up to +40°C, T5/T95°C up to +60°C, T4/T135°C up to +75°C. K2D: T80/T95/T135°C up to +40/+60/+75°C. Lower limit: -55°C or -25°C, depending on switch and sealing.

Mounting and Wiring

Mounting per VDI/VDE 3845 actuator interface. Wiring requires correct conductor cross-section, torque, cable gland selection, and equipotential bonding. Operation is permitted only with fully assembled enclosure; live cable disconnection is prohibited.

When to select ED?
For Zone 1 or where Ex de protection for gases is required.

When to select K2D?
For Zone 21/22 with combustible dusts.

When to select K3?
For Zone 2/22, where Ex ec / Ex tc is sufficient and Zone 1 protection is not required.

The neptun Box and all external parts are made of high-quality stainless steel (1.4571) and are therefore particularly resistant to corrosion and pitting.
