The S62 is a concentric lug-type butterfly valve designed for installation between flanges in industrial isolation networks. The lug construction allows for bolted connection to the flange and should be selected when mechanical retention of the valve is crucial for maintenance or line section isolation. The actual end-of-line rating must be confirmed per DN and operating pressure.
The product page specifies a temperature range of -30 to +110 °C, while Alfa Europe's technical sheets provide a general series range of -40 to +250 °C. Selection is not based solely on the general range; the seat material is crucial:
Available bodies: EN-JS1030 ductile iron, ASTM A216 WCB, stainless steel 1.4408, and aluminium bronze BS 1400 AB2. Discs are available in BS 1400 AB2, EN-JS1030, SS 1.4408, or SD 2507. Shafts are available in SS 410, SS 416, SS 1.4462, and SD F53.
Suitable for water, HVAC, cooling, auxiliary industrial circuits, low-pressure air, and neutral fluids. For seawater, chemicals, elevated chlorides, or high temperatures, body, disc, shaft, and liner checks are required.
When to choose lug over wafer?
When mechanical retention with lugs or easier pipeline section isolation is required.
Is it a control valve?
Not primarily. It can perform limited throttling, with differential pressure, flow velocity, and seat wear control.
