Sirca International – Technical profile of a pneumatic actuator, quarter-turn valve and valve automation accessory manufacturer

Sirca International is an Italian manufacturer of valves, pneumatic actuators and valve automation accessories. Its range includes butterfly valves, ball valves, rack-and-pinion pneumatic actuators, scotch yoke actuators, gearboxes, hand levers, limit switch boxes and solenoid valves.

The product represented through Philippopoulos S.A. is mainly the SIRCA AP / APM pneumatic rotary actuator for quarter-turn valves.

The AP / APM actuator is a rack-and-pinion pneumatic actuator for ball valves, butterfly valves and plug valves. It is available in:

• double acting configuration,
• single acting spring-return configuration,
• fail-open or fail-close arrangements,
• ISO 5211 mounting interface,
• NAMUR solenoid valve interface,
• VDI / VDE accessory interface.

The difference between AP and APM is related to travel adjustment. The APM version provides adjustment in both opening and closing directions, which is useful where disc or ball end position affects tightness or torque.

Actuator selection must be based on valve torque, not only valve DN. Required data include break torque, run torque, seating torque, differential pressure, available air pressure, safety factor, fail position and required operating time.

Sirca also manufactures resilient seated butterfly valves, double offset butterfly valves, triple offset metal-seated butterfly valves, ball valves and automation accessories. Triple offset valves are used where higher temperature, higher pressure, metal seating or fire-safe performance is required.
