Butterfly Valves type BV-BVT | Mei
MEI BV / BVT Food Grade Butterfly Valve
The MEI BV/BVT is a sanitary butterfly valve designed for food, beverage, and clean process fluid lines. The series covers DN100–DN400 and is primarily used for on/off isolation or simple throttling at low differential pressure. It should not be considered a precision control valve.
Construction and Materials
- Body / semiflanges: AISI 316L / EN 1.4404
- Disc: AISI 316L / EN 1.4404
- Support: AISI 304 / EN 1.4403
- Bushings: PTFE
- Seat: food grade silicone FDA 177.2600, EPDM or PTFE shell with internal silicone or EPDM.
The internal finish is mirror polished, with an external satin finish. The technical sheet specifies Ra <0.1 internally and Ra <0.8 externally, with electropolishing or special finishing available upon request.
BV and BVT Variants
The BV/BVT differentiation pertains to geometry and connection types. For BV, connections include SX, SR, DC, CX, CR, DR, while for BVT, connections include CXTW, CRTW, DCT, CXT, CRT, DRT. Final selection should be based on piping standards, disassembly method, and cleaning requirements.
Actuation
The series features a top flange ISO 5211: F05 for DN100–DN250, F07 for DN300, and F10 for DN350–DN400. It can be equipped with pneumatic actuators, proximity limit switches, and solenoid valves. Actuator torque selection ranges from 20–185 Nm for silicone seat and 40–190 Nm for PTFE seat.
Applications
Suitable for product lines, auxiliary clean fluids, CIP-compatible installations, and sanitary networks requiring stainless steel contact surfaces. For acidic products, fats, high temperature, or aggressive cleaners, seat material should be verified.
FAQ
What should be confirmed in the order?
DN, BV/BVT connection type, seat material, actuator, feedback, solenoid valve, and finish requirement.
Are silicone/EPDM components interchangeable with PTFE?
No. The technical sheet states that silicone/EPDM components are not interchangeable with the PTFE version.
