OMC R99P – Pneumatic Positioner for Rotary Actuators

The OMC R99P is a pneumatic positioner designed for single- or double-acting rotary actuators. It accepts a control signal of 3–15 psi / 0.2–1 bar, compares the controller input to the actuator shaft angle, and delivers a boosted pneumatic output to the actuator. Operation is based on the force-balance principle.

Adjustment and Operation

R99P provides independent zero/span adjustment, split-range capability, action reversal, and valve speed control. Air supply is adjustable up to 34 Nm³/h at 10 bar. Sizing should consider actuator chamber volume and required stroke time.

Applications

Used on butterfly, ball, and plug valves for modulating flow control of steam, cooling water, hot water, condensate, air, and process utility lines. The process medium does not pass through the positioner; only instrument air is managed to the actuator.

R99P vs R99E

R99P is selected for fully pneumatic control loops with 3–15 psi input. R99E is used when the control signal is electrical 4–20 mA. Both versions support ISO/NAMUR mounting and are suitable for single- or double-acting actuators.

FAQ

Is there an ATEX version?
Yes, ATEX 2014/34/EU versions are available, including Ex ia and Ex h for gas or dust, depending on model code.
