Butterfly Valve Wafer Alfa Europe S52

The S52 is a wafer-type butterfly valve designed for isolation or basic throttling in industrial water networks, HVAC, cooling, treated water, air, and neutral liquids. It is installed between flanges and covers sizes DN40–DN600, with nominal pressures up to PN16 depending on size and flange connection.

Standards and Connection

  • Connection type: wafer / lug.
  • Flanges: EN 1092 PN6/PN10/PN16, ASME B16.5 Class 150, JIS 5K/10K/16K.
  • Face-to-face: EN 558-1 Series 20 / API 609 A.
  • Top flange: ISO 5211 for manual, pneumatic, or electric actuator connection.

Materials and Sealing

Available with body in EN-JS1030 ductile iron, ASTM A216 WCB, stainless steel 1.4408, or aluminium bronze BS 1400 AB2. Disc options include EN-JS1030, 1.4408, BS 1400 AB2, and duplex/super duplex materials for more corrosive environments. Seat options are NBR or EPDM; NBR is suitable for water, air, and certain oils, while EPDM is preferred for water, glycols, and HVAC applications. Temperature should be checked based on elastomer: indicative NBR -15 to +80 °C and EPDM -23 to +120 °C.

Handling Versions

  • Bare shaft: for actuator installation via ISO 5211.
  • Lever operated: handle for DN40–DN200, suitable for local operation.
  • Gearbox operated: reducer for larger diameters or where lower operating torque is required.

Is it used as a control valve?
It can perform limited throttling but does not replace a control valve when precise flow characteristic is required.
