The S46 is a concentric butterfly valve double flanged with a bonded liner, designed for industrial piping systems requiring a fully flanged connection instead of wafer or lug. It covers DN40–DN1200, designed to EN 593 and face-to-face EN 558-1 Series 13.

Standards and Operational Limits

  • Flanges: DIN PN6/10/16/25, ANSI B16.5 Class 150, JIS B2211 5K/10K.
  • Pressure: up to 25 bar for DN40–DN600, up to 16 bar for DN700–DN1200.
  • Temperature range: -40 to +250 °C, actual limit depends on seat material.
  • Top flange: ISO 5211.
  • Vacuum: up to 1×10⁻³ / 0.2 Torr absolute.

Materials and Sealing

Available bodies: EN-JS1030 ductile iron, ASTM A216 WCB, SS 1.4408, and BS 1400 AB2 aluminium bronze. Discs available in BS 1400 AB2, EN-JS1030, SS 1.4408, or SD 2507.

Seats:

  • NBR: -15 to +80 °C
  • EPDM: -23 to +120 °C
  • Viton: 0 to +200 °C
  • Silicone: -40 to +250 °C

Handling and Actuation

The S46 is available as a bare shaft for pneumatic or electric actuators, with lever DN40–DN200 or gearbox DN40–DN1000. Actuator selection depends on DN, differential pressure, seat material, and required torque.

Applications

Used in water networks, cooling, HVAC, pump stations, industrial auxiliary circuits, low-pressure air, and neutral fluids. For seawater, consider aluminium bronze, stainless, or duplex parts. For chemicals, steam, or abrasive fluids, check liner, disc, temperature, and ΔP.

FAQ

When to choose S46 over wafer;
When a flanged body, Series 13 face-to-face, or better mechanical support of the valve in the piping is required.

Is it a control valve;
No. It can perform limited throttling, but for continuous regulation, check Kv, velocity, noise, cavitation, and liner wear.
