High-Demand Butterfly Valve MEI DV0-2 / DV4

The MEI DV0-2 / DV4 series is a metal-to-metal butterfly valve designed for air, flue gases, and industrial gases with low differential pressure. It is not a soft seated shut-off valve; its sealing is classified as Class III according to ANSI B16.104, making it suitable where controlled leakage is acceptable.

Technical Specifications

  • Standard Range: DN50–DN300.
  • Connection: wafer / lug type.
  • Flanges: EN 1092-1 PN6 / PN10 / PN16, ANSI 150 RF.
  • Materials: zinc plated carbon steel or AISI 316 / SS316.
  • Top Flange: ISO 5211 for gearbox or actuator.
  • Shaft Sealing: PTFE or graphite packing.

Difference Between DV0-2 and DV4

The primary difference is the temperature limit:

  • DV0-2: up to 200 °C.
  • DV4: up to 400 °C.

The DV4 is selected for hotter air or flue gases, provided body material, packing, differential pressure, and operating torque are confirmed.

Operational Use

The series is intended for:

  • flue gas extraction,
  • industrial ventilation,
  • hot air,
  • dry gas networks,
  • isolation or simple flow regulation in ducting.

It should not be used as a zero-leakage isolation valve for liquids, pressurized steam, or hazardous gases without specific leakage class checks and operational condition assessments.

Torque and Actuation

The manufacturer provides a torque table for different operating pressures. The selection of a gearbox or actuator should be based on DN, ΔP, temperature, operation frequency, and required safety factor.

Is it suitable for full isolation?
No, when zero leakage is required. It is a metal-to-metal valve with Class III sealing.

When is it chosen over a soft seated butterfly valve?
In hot air or flue gases, where elastomeric seats cannot withstand the temperature.
