Alfa Europe S66 PTFE Lined Lug Butterfly Valve

The S66 is a concentric lug butterfly valve with a PTFE lined seat, designed for pipelines where standard elastomer seats like EPDM/NBR are insufficient due to chemical compatibility issues. Primarily used as an isolation valve in chemical networks, treated water, dilute acids/alkalis, and industrial fluids, following fluid, concentration, and temperature checks.

Standards and Connection

  • Sizes: DN50–DN600.
  • Connection: lug type, with lugs.
  • Flanges: DIN PN6/10/16, ANSI B16.5 Class 150, JIS 5K/10K.
  • Design: EN 593.
  • Face-to-face: EN 558-1 Series 20, ISO 5752 Series 20/13, API 609 Cat. A.
  • Top flange: ISO 5211 for actuator or manual operation.

Pressure and Temperature

Technical sheets indicate pressure up to 16 bar and temperature range from -20 to +180 °C. The product page mentions a general range of -40 to +200 °C, thus procurement should confirm permissible limits based on seat, disc, pressure, and chemical medium.

Materials and Seats

Available constructions:

  • Body EN-JS1030, disc SS 1.4408, seat EPDM + PTFE, up to +120 °C.
  • Body A216 WCB, disc WCB/PTFE, seat Silicone + PTFE, up to +180 °C.
  • Body SS 1.4408, disc SS/PTFE, seat Viton + PTFE, up to +180 °C.

Operation

  • Bare shaft: DN50–DN600 for pneumatic or electric actuator.
  • Lever: DN50–DN200 for local on/off operation.
  • Gearbox: DN50–DN600 for larger diameters or increased torque.

Lug vs Wafer

The lug design is selected when mechanical retention with bolts per flange or line section maintenance is required. End-of-line operation capability should not be assumed without confirming pressure, DN, and load direction.

FAQ

Is it suitable for continuous regulation?
Not as a primary use. Throttling requires checking Kv, differential pressure, velocity, and PTFE seat wear.

When is S66 PTFE chosen?
When a PTFE contact surface with the fluid is needed and common elastomer liners are not chemically acceptable.
