ARI-GESA® Lug Butterfly Valve

The ARI-GESA® is a soft-sealing lug-type butterfly valve with threaded holes in the body. This design allows for installation between flanges, use as a pipe-end valve, and disconnection of one side of the pipeline, which is not possible in the same way with a typical wafer configuration.

Technical Specifications

  • Diameters: DN25–500
  • Pressure: PN10 / PN16
  • Body: EN-GJS-400-15 / EN-JS1030, ductile iron
  • Disc: Stainless steel 1.4581
  • Shaft: 1.4021+QT, optionally 1.4571 up to DN300 or 1.4542 from DN350
  • Face-to-face: EN 558-1, series 20
  • Tightness: EN 12266-1, leakage rate A
  • Max Δp: 16 bar for DN25–150, 10 bar for DN200–500

Seat and Media Compatibility

Seat selection should be based on fluid, temperature, and presence of chemicals or oils.

  • EPDM: -10 to +130 °C, for cold/hot water, process water, and potable water with DVGW.
  • NBR: -10 to +80 °C, for air, inert gases, and selected technical media.
  • FPM: 0 to +150 °C, for special chemical applications; not suitable for hot water.

Installation and Operation

The GESA is installed with welding neck flanges according to DIN EN 1092-1 / 11 / B1. For slip-on flanges, the manufacturer refers to ZIVA. In end-of-line applications, safety evaluation is required, and to maintain seat tightness, use of a blind or counter flange is necessary.

Actuation

Available with lever, locking lever, manual gearbox, electric actuators ARI-OM / Deufra / Auma, or pneumatic rotary actuator AIR-TORQUE, double or single acting. Selection is based on torque, operation frequency, accessibility, and fail-close or fail-open requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions

When to choose over ZESA?
When threaded lug holes, end-of-line operation, or disconnection of one side of the network are required.

Is it suitable for flow regulation?
Primarily used as an isolation valve. Limited throttling is possible, but precise control requires Kv, opening angle, and cavitation/noise conditions assessment.

Typical Applications:
Heating, cooling, HVAC networks, process water, auxiliary industrial circuits, compressed air, and isolation lines requiring sectional maintenance.
