Bernard Controls ST Multi-Turn Electric Actuator

The ST series comprises multi-turn electric actuators with weatherproof enclosures, designed for gate, globe, and other multi-turn valve applications. For quarter-turn valves, the actuator is paired with a suitable gearbox. Direct output torque covers 60–2,200 Nm, with engineered solutions available up to 20,000 Nm as required.

Main Technical Data

  • Output speed: 10–120 rpm; high-speed versions up to 190 rpm for selected sizes.
  • Duty classes: On-Off Class A/A+, Inching/Positioning Class B/B+, Modulating Class III, per EN 15714-2.
  • Enclosure protection: IP68, 5 m / 72 h.
  • Ambient temperature: -20 to +70 °C; option for -40 °C. SWITCH versions up to +90 °C.
  • Corrosion protection: standard C3 per ISO 12944, options up to C5-M.

Control Variants

SWITCH: Electromechanical version with travel limit switches, torque switches, terminal box, and external control logic.

INTEGRAL+ / POSIGAM+: Integrated control with reversing starters, local operation, fault relay, signal relays, and analog control capability (POSIGAM+).

INTELLI+: Digital configuration without cover removal, position/torque indication, alarm logging, ESD, partial stroke test, and fieldbus options (Profibus, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, HART).

Mechanical Interface & Valve Protection

Output flange per ISO 5210. Self-locking gearing. Manual override handwheel is disengaged during motor operation. Torque adjustable from 40–100% of maximum, independently for open/close, to protect valve seat and stem.

Applications

Suitable for water, steam, condensate, cooling, water treatment, industrial gases, and auxiliary systems. Selection based on torque, number of turns, travel time, duty cycle, supply voltage, and feedback requirements.

FAQ

When to select ST over AQ?
For valves requiring multi-turn operation or when a gearbox is needed for high torque.

What is checked during maintenance?
Cable glands, IP sealing, camblock, torque setting, handwheel, fault relays, grounding, and alarm history.
