VALPES VRX ATEX Electric Quarter-Turn Actuator

VALPES VRX ATEX is an electric quarter-turn actuator designed for ball valves, butterfly valves, and plug valves in hazardous (explosive atmosphere) areas. VRX models provide 25, 45, and 75 Nm torque, with ISO 5211 F05/F07 mounting and 17 mm star drive.

Operation and Electrical Data

  • Standard rotation 90°; 180° or 270° available on request.
  • Supply options: 100–240 V AC / 100–350 V DC, 15–30 V AC / 12–48 V DC, or 400 V 3-phase.
  • 90° operating time: 7 s (VRX25), 15 s (VRX45), 20 s (VRX75) for multivoltage versions.
  • Duty cycle: S4 50% per CEI34.
  • Control: on-off or 3-point; 400 V models support 3-point only.

ATEX and Environmental Ratings

Standard marking: II 2 G D Ex db IIB T6 Gb / Ex tb IIIC T80°C Db for gas zones 1/2 and dust zones 21/22, LCIE 06 ATEX 6006 X. Battery backup versions: temperature range -10 to +40 °C. Standard multivoltage: -20 to +70 °C. 400 V version: T5 marking, max +54 °C.

Construction and Feedback

Aluminum enclosure, ingress protection IP68 5 m / 72 h. Features: manual override, visual position indicator, anti-condensation heater, mechanical end stops, software torque limiter (except 400 V), fault relay, RS485 (except 400 V).

Options

Available: BBPR (battery return), POSI (analog control), 3 positions, POSI-BBPR, Modbus-RTU, potentiometer feedback, and transmitter 0–20 mA / 4–20 mA / 0–10 V.

Applications

Used in chemical plants, petrochemicals, storage tanks, fuel gases, industrial gases, and auxiliary networks requiring Ex protection. Media compatibility is determined by the valve; actuator selection is based on torque, ATEX zone, voltage, 90° time, duty cycle, and required feedback.
