OMC RP01 – Pneumatic Linear Positioner

The OMC RP01 is a pneumatic positioner designed for linear pneumatic actuators on control valves. It accepts a control signal of 3–15 psi / 0.2–1 bar and modulates the actuator supply pressure to compensate for differential pressure changes, stem friction, and actuator hysteresis.

Technical Data

  • Input signal: 3–15 psi (other ranges available on request)
  • Supply air pressure: 2–10 bar
  • Pneumatic connections: 1/4" NPT
  • Output: 0–100% of supply pressure
  • Stroke range: 3–7, 6–18, 9–33, 14–53, 53–100 mm; custom strokes >100 mm available
  • Ambient temperature: -40 to +80 °C
  • Enclosure: IP55, optional IP65 (DIN 40.050)
  • Repeatability: ≤0.1% F.S.
  • Hysteresis: ≤0.6% F.S.
  • Weight: approx. 1.3 kg

Operation and Adjustment

The RP01 compares the pneumatic controller signal with mechanical position feedback and generates output pressure to the actuator. Independent zero/span adjustment, split range capability, and opening/closing speed adjustment via throttle screw are provided.

Installation and Applications

Mounting is via IEC 534 / NAMUR bracket. Instrument air must be clean and dry, with a filter regulator upstream to prevent internal port blockage from moisture or oil.

Typical applications:

  • Steam and condensate control valves
  • Cooling/heating water circuits
  • Pneumatic control loops without 4–20 mA signal
  • Legacy installations with pneumatic controllers
  • Single- or double-acting actuator valves

RP01 vs RE01

The RP01 is selected when a pneumatic 3–15 psi control signal is available. The RE01 is used for PLC/DCS systems with 4–20 mA electrical signals. Both share mechanical feedback logic and stroke limits.

FAQ

Can it operate in reverse action?
Yes. Direct/reverse action is set by relocating the output plug as per installation instructions.

What affects maintenance?
Instrument air quality is critical. Particulates, oil, or moisture increase risk of blockage and valve position instability.

Description

Single & double-acting positioners RP01 require an input signal of 3÷15 psi for proportional control actuator. The Positioner compares the output signal from a controller with the position feedback, and varies a pneumatic output signal to the actuator accordingly. The actuator position is therefore guaranteed for any controller output signal and the effects of varying differential pressure.
