Ghidini 5230 4G 2-Way Ball Valve

Type 5230 is a three-piece, full-bore stainless steel ball valve with rotating round butt-weld ends and an ISO 5211 / DIN 3337 mounting flange for actuator installation. It is used for automated on/off isolation in welded stainless steel process lines.

Typical Applications

The 5230 is suitable for permanent stainless steel pipework in food and beverage plants, CIP circuits, process water systems, utility skids, chemical dosing lines and compatible hygienic process services.

Suitable Media and Operating Conditions

  • Compatible media: water, product fluids, cleaning solutions, air, inert gases and chemicals compatible with 316L stainless steel and PTFE.
  • Use with steam must be checked against seat material, pressure class and temperature limits.
  • Full-bore geometry reduces pressure drop and supports pigging or flushing where the line design allows it.
  • Welded ends reduce external leakage points compared with detachable pipe connections.

Difference from Type 5201

Type 5201 is a manual valve. Type 5230 includes the top mounting flange required for pneumatic or electric actuators, position feedback and automated process control. Selection depends on whether the valve is operated locally or by a control system.

Actuation Options

  • Pneumatic actuator for on/off service with solenoid valve and limit switch box.
  • Electric actuator for slower cycling or installations without compressed air.
  • Control accessories may include position indication, fail-open or fail-close spring return and ATEX-rated components where required.

FAQ

Is this valve intended for throttling?
It is primarily an isolation valve. Continuous throttling can increase seat wear and should be evaluated separately.

Can it be installed in welded hygienic lines?
Yes, the butt-weld ends are intended for permanent stainless steel tube systems to ASTM A270 or DIN 11850.
