Ball Valve 5301 Series | 4G Ghidini

Ghidini 5301 4G Two-Way Ball Valve

Type 5301 is a manually operated, three-piece, full-bore ball valve with “Integral Seal” construction for on/off isolation in stainless steel industrial piping. The body is manufactured from AISI 316L / 1.4404 and is fitted with Virgin PTFE seats.

Technical characteristics

  • Construction: three-piece body, Integral Seal design
  • Operation: stainless steel manual lever
  • Flow pattern: two-way, full bore
  • Body material: AISI 316L / 1.4404
  • Nominal sizes: DN8 to DN100
  • End connections: ISO 228-1, NPT, socket weld, butt weld
  • Pressure classes: PN 16 / PN 25 / PN 40 / PN 64, depending on size and connection
  • Seats: Virgin PTFE
  • Temperature range: -20°C to +160°C, subject to pressure and medium compatibility
  • Surface finish: sandblasted

Typical applications

The 5301 is used for isolation of process water, compressed air, inert gases, clean liquids and chemical services compatible with 316L stainless steel and PTFE. It is suitable for utility lines, process skids, stainless steel distribution headers and maintenance isolation points.

The three-piece construction allows access to the ball and seats without removing the complete valve body from the pipeline, which is useful where periodic inspection, seat replacement or internal cleaning is required.

Operating considerations

  • Intended function: open/closed isolation, not throttling control.
  • Full-bore passage reduces pressure drop and supports pigging or cleaning procedures where the piping layout allows it.
  • PTFE seating provides chemical compatibility for many neutral and corrosive fluids but must be checked against temperature, pressure and concentration.
  • Weld-end versions reduce threaded joints and are commonly selected for permanent stainless steel process pipework.

Difference from type 5001

Type 5301 uses the “Integral Seal” sealing architecture. It is selected where this sealing arrangement is required instead of the standard three-piece configuration used on type 5001, for example due to plant standardization, maintenance preference or leakage management requirements.

Standards, certifications and options

  • ATEX antistatic device available where required by hazardous-area specification
  • M.O.C.A. CE 1935/2004 option for food-contact applications
  • DIN connection option
  • Threaded and welded connection variants
  • Manual lever operation as standard; actuator preparation or automated assemblies should be confirmed against the selected valve configuration and plant actuation standard

FAQ

Is the 5301 suitable for flow regulation?
No. It is an isolation valve for on/off service. Continuous throttling can damage the seats and ball sealing surfaces.

When should a welded connection be selected?
When the installation requires permanent pipework with fewer mechanical joints, reduced leakage paths and improved suitability for stainless steel process lines.
