The Clorius L1SB is a two-way, single-seat control valve with pressure balancing, featuring a gun metal RG5 body and stainless steel internal components. It is used when system differential pressure requires more closing force than a simple single-seat valve, but leakage from a double-seat valve is not acceptable.
The L1SB is applicable for hot water, steam, and lubricating fluids. The product page also mentions compressed air, cooling, demi water, heating, solar energy, and steam. Typical use cases include heat exchangers, thermal skids, central heating systems, industrial processes, and marine installations.
Without an actuator, the valve remains open via a spring. It closes with shaft pressure. With a self-acting Clorius thermostat, it closes on temperature rise, while with pneumatic or electric actuators, the action direction depends on the control application.
Installation can be vertical or horizontal. Up to 170°C, the thermostat or actuator can be mounted above or below the valve. Above 170°C, a cooling unit is required for thermostats or a high-temperature adaptor for electric actuators.
When to choose L1SB over L1S?
When differential pressure requires a balanced design for safe closure.
Is it suitable for steam?
Yes, with pressure, temperature, Kvs, and sealing material considerations.
Is it an on/off valve?
Not only. It is a control valve with a defined Kvs and quadratic flow characteristic.
