Clorius Controls – Technical profile of self-acting temperature control valves and actuators
Clorius Controls, now under BROEN Clorius Controls, supplies control valves, actuators, thermostats and temperature control equipment. The official BROEN Clorius site refers to more than 120 years in temperature controls.
The Clorius self-acting temperature control system uses a mechanical temperature regulator with an external temperature sensor for heating and cooling processes in industrial plants, building services and marine equipment.
Main product areas include:
- two-way control valves,
- three-way control valves,
- self-acting temperature regulators,
- thermostats,
- temperature sensors,
- actuators for heating and cooling circuits.
Self-acting temperature regulators operate without external electrical or pneumatic energy. The temperature sensor detects process temperature and mechanically adjusts valve position through a thermostatic element. This makes them suitable for local control duties where simple autonomous temperature regulation is required.
Two-way valves are used for modulating flow through heat exchangers, coils and process heaters. Three-way valves are used for mixing or diverting circuits in heating, cooling, district energy and marine systems.
Selection should include:
- heating or cooling duty,
- two-way or three-way function,
- medium,
- temperature range,
- setpoint range,
- Kv value,
- pressure drop,
- valve material,
- actuator / thermostat type,
- sensor placement,
- capillary length,
- installation orientation.
For HVAC engineers, marine engineers and process utility specialists, Clorius equipment is suitable where local temperature control must continue independently of a central control system.
