Ghidini 5401 4G 2-Way Ball Valve

Type 5401 is a manually operated, three-piece “Integral Seal” ball valve with DIN 32676 Reihe C clamp ends for BS/OD tube according to ASTM A270. It is used for on/off isolation in clean stainless-steel process lines where dismantling, inspection, and cleaning access are required.

Applications and media

The 5401 is applied in food and beverage lines, CIP circuits, process water, clean utilities, and liquid services compatible with AISI 316L, PTFE, and FKM. It is intended for isolation duty, not throttling or continuous flow control.

The clamp connection is selected where the process line must be opened without cutting or welding, for example during sanitation, batch changeover, seal inspection, or replacement of wetted components.

Operating considerations

• Use as a quarter-turn shut-off valve in fully open or fully closed position.
• Verify pressure rating against size, bore configuration, temperature, and medium.
• Check compatibility of PTFE seats and elastomer seals with cleaning chemicals, product, and CIP temperature.
• For clean service, include clamp gasket material and surface finish in the valve specification.

Difference from type 5101

The 5401 is the clamp-end, three-piece version with “Integral Seal” construction. It is selected when the line specification requires hygienic clamp connections, maintainability without pipe work, and the specific sealing arrangement around the ball.

Standards, certifications, and options

On request, the valve can be supplied with antistatic arrangement for ATEX II 2G Ex h IIC T4 Gb / II 2D Ex h IIIC T135°C Db and with M.O.C.A. CE 1935/2004 compliance for food-contact applications.

Standard operation is by stainless-steel lever. For automated on/off service, actuator selection should be based on valve torque, pressure differential, cycling frequency, fail position, and plant instrument air or electric actuator standards.
