Ball Valve 5101 Series | 4G Ghidini

Ghidini 4G 5101 2-Way Ball Valve

The 5101 is a three-piece 2-way ball valve, available with full or reduced bore, fitted with clamp connections to DIN 32676 Reihe C for BS/OD tube according to ASTM A270. The valve body is AISI 316L / 1.4404 stainless steel and the standard operator is a manual stainless steel lever.

Technical characteristics

  • Construction: three-piece body
  • Connection: clamp DIN 32676 TAB.4 Reihe C
  • Tube reference: BS/OD according to ASTM A270
  • Sizes: 1/2” to 4”
  • Body material: AISI 316L / 1.4404
  • Seats: virgin PTFE
  • Temperature range: -20°C to +160°C
  • Pressure classes: PN 16 / PN 25 / PN 40 / PN 64, depending on size and configuration
  • Surface finish: polished
  • Standard operation: manual stainless steel lever

Typical applications

Used for on/off isolation in food and beverage lines, CIP circuits, process water, clean utility systems and stainless steel process pipework where clamp dismantling is required. The clamp connection allows removal for cleaning, inspection or maintenance without cutting or welding the pipework.

Suitable media and operating conditions

  • Clean liquids compatible with AISI 316L and PTFE
  • Food and beverage products where the selected sealing material is suitable for contact duty
  • CIP fluids within the chemical, pressure and temperature limits of the valve
  • Process water and non-abrasive utility fluids
  • Steam service only after checking pressure, temperature, seat material and cycling duty

Difference from type 5001

The 5001 is supplied with threaded or welded end connections. The 5101 is the clamp-end version for hygienic or clean process lines where frequent dismantling, batch changeover, cleaning validation or inspection is part of the maintenance procedure.

Standards, certifications and options

  • Clamp connection according to DIN 32676 Reihe C
  • Tube compatibility: BS/OD tube according to ASTM A270
  • Optional ATEX antistatic device
  • Optional M.O.C.A. compliance for CE 1935/2004 food-contact applications
  • PTFE with glass filler up to +170°C
  • PTFE with carbographite filler up to +180°C
  • PTFE with stainless steel filler up to +200°C
  • UHMWPE seats up to +80°C

Actuation and valve selection

The standard configuration is lever operated. For automated isolation duty, actuator selection should be based on valve size, differential pressure, seat material, operating temperature, required fail position and cycle frequency. Verify actuator mounting interface, breakaway torque and process safety requirements before specifying pneumatic or electric operation.

Maintenance and leakage considerations

As a soft-seated ball valve, the 5101 is intended for isolation rather than throttling. Seat wear can increase if the valve is used for modulating flow, abrasive media or frequent partial opening. During maintenance, inspect the ball surface, PTFE seats, stem sealing area and clamp gaskets.

FAQ

Is this valve intended for flow control?
No. It is intended for on/off isolation service, not continuous throttling or process modulation.

When should the clamp version be selected?
Select clamp ends when quick dismantling is required for cleaning, batch changeover, inspection or maintenance in hygienic or clean process pipework.
