Ghidini 5001 4G Two-Way Ball Valve

Type 5001 is a three-piece, full-bore, two-way ball valve with a manual stainless steel lever. The body is manufactured from AISI 316L / 1.4404 and is used for on/off isolation in stainless steel industrial pipework.

Technical characteristics

  • Body construction: three-piece
  • Flow passage: full bore
  • Material: AISI 316L / 1.4404
  • Sizes: 1/4” to 4”
  • Connections: ISO 228-1, NPT, socket weld, butt weld
  • Pressure classes: PN 16, PN 25, PN 40, PN 64
  • Standard seats: virgin PTFE
  • Standard temperature range: -20°C to +160°C
  • External finish: sandblasted

Typical applications and media

The valve is suitable for process water, compressed air, inert gases, clean liquids, auxiliary production lines, and chemicals compatible with 316L stainless steel and PTFE. Media selection should consider temperature, concentration, pressure cycling, and seat compatibility.

The three-piece body allows access to the seats and ball area for maintenance without removing the complete valve assembly from the pipeline, provided the installation allows safe depressurisation and isolation.

Sealing options

  • Virgin PTFE: -20°C to +160°C
  • Glass-filled PTFE: -20°C to +170°C
  • PTFE with carbographite: up to +180°C
  • PTFE with stainless steel filler: up to +200°C
  • UHMWPE: up to +80°C, typically selected where abrasion resistance is required

Variant selection

  • Threaded ISO 228-1 or NPT ends are used where removable pipe joints are required.
  • Socket weld and butt weld ends are selected for welded stainless steel process lines.
  • Pressure class selection must be checked against size, temperature, seat material, and the applicable piping specification.
  • Full-bore design reduces pressure drop compared with reduced-bore isolation valves.

Standards, certifications, and actuation

On request, the valve can be supplied with antistatic execution for ATEX II 2G Ex h IIC T4 Gb / II 2D Ex h IIIC T135°C Db and with M.O.C.A. compliance according to CE 1935/2004.

The standard execution is lever operated. For automated on/off service, pneumatic or electric actuator arrangements should be selected after checking valve torque, pressure differential, cycling frequency, fail-safe position, and the required mounting arrangement.

FAQ

When is a three-piece body selected?
When maintenance access to the seats and internal components is required without complete removal of the valve from the line.

Is this valve suitable for flow control?
No. It is intended for full-open or full-closed isolation. Throttling service can damage the seats and may cause unstable flow conditions.
