Ghidini 2101 4G 2-Way Ball Valve

Type 2101 is a manually operated 2-way ball valve with Victaulic grooved-end connection for industrial piping where a demountable, non-threaded joint is required. Wetted metallic parts are AISI 316L / EN 1.4404 stainless steel and the standard seat is modified virgin PTFE.

Typical Applications

The 2101 is used on process water lines, utility headers, cleaning circuits, inert gases and compatible liquid services. It is suitable where the medium is chemically compatible with 316L stainless steel and PTFE, and where the valve is required for positive isolation rather than flow control.

The Victaulic connection is normally selected when the line must be opened for maintenance without cutting, welding or dismantling flanged joints.

Operating and Selection Criteria

  • Confirm operating pressure and select the required PN rating.
  • Check medium compatibility with 316L stainless steel and modified virgin PTFE.
  • Verify operating temperature against the pressure-temperature rating of the seat material.
  • Allow sufficient clearance for lever operation and valve removal.
  • Check grooved pipe dimensions and coupling compatibility before installation.
  • Consider leakage class, shut-off frequency and maintenance access for critical isolation duties.

Standards, Documentation and Certification

The valve is supplied in DIN execution. For regulated plants, specify required documentation at the enquiry stage, such as material certificates to EN 10204 3.1, pressure equipment documentation, traceability records or project-specific inspection requirements.

Actuation and Sealing Options

The standard configuration is manual lever operation. If remote operation is required, a compatible pneumatic or electric actuated version should be selected only after confirming valve torque, mounting interface and duty cycle. The standard sealing system uses modified virgin PTFE; alternative sealing materials, if required for temperature or chemical service, must be verified against the manufacturer’s available executions.

Difference from Type 1901

Type 1901 is an ISO 228-1 threaded ball valve for higher pressure classes, typically PN 160 and PN 200. Type 2101 uses a Victaulic grooved connection and covers PN 25 to PN 100. It is selected where mechanical line disassembly is more important than threaded high-pressure compactness.

FAQ

Is the 2101 suitable for throttling service?
No. It is intended for full-open or full-closed isolation. Intermediate positions can increase seat wear and do not provide stable control characteristics.

When should a Victaulic connection be used?
Use it when the piping section must be opened frequently or rapidly without welding, cutting or removing bolted flanges.
