Ghidini 1230 4G Two-Way Full-Bore Ball Valve

Type 1230 is a two-way full-bore ball valve with clamp connection to DIN 32676 Reihe C and an ISO 5211 / DIN 3337 top flange for actuator mounting. It is used for automated on/off isolation in stainless-steel process pipework.

Technical Characteristics

  • Valve pattern: two-way ball valve
  • Connection: clamp DIN 32676 TAB.4 Reihe C
  • Tube standard: BS/OD to ASTM A270
  • Body and ball material: AISI 316L / 1.4404
  • Sizes: 1” to 2½”
  • Flow passage: full bore
  • Seats: modified virgin PTFE
  • Operating temperature: -20°C to +170°C
  • Pressure class: PN 25 / PN 40
  • External finish: polished
  • Actuator mounting screws included

Difference from Type 1202

Type 1202 is the manual lever-operated version. Type 1230 is supplied with an ISO 5211 / DIN 3337 actuator interface and is selected when the valve must be integrated into pneumatic or electric on/off control loops.

Typical Applications

  • CIP circuits and clean utility lines
  • Food, beverage and dairy process pipework
  • Clean liquid transfer and distribution skids
  • Automated isolation upstream or downstream of tanks, filters, fillers and heat exchangers
  • Installations requiring clamp disassembly for inspection, cleaning or maintenance

Suitable Media and Operating Notes

The valve is suitable for compatible liquids and clean process fluids within the pressure, temperature and seat-material limits. Media compatibility must be checked against AISI 316L body material and the selected PTFE-based or UHMWPE seat compound. For abrasive or crystallising fluids, seat wear and leakage class requirements should be reviewed during selection.

Actuator Options

The ISO 5211 / DIN 3337 mounting interface allows installation of pneumatic rack-and-pinion actuators or electric quarter-turn actuators. Actuator sizing should consider pressure differential, service temperature, cycle frequency, available air supply or electrical supply, and required fail position.

Sealing Options

  • PTFE with glass: -20°C to +170°C
  • PTFE with carbographite: up to +180°C
  • PTFE with stainless-steel filler: up to +200°C
  • UHMWPE: up to +80°C

Standards and Certifications

Available with antistatic arrangement for ATEX II 2G Ex h IIC T4 Gb / II 2D Ex h IIIC T135°C Db. Food-contact compliance to M.O.C.A. CE 1935/2004 is available for applicable configurations.

FAQ

When should Type 1230 be selected?
Use it when a clamp-connected stainless ball valve must be automated for remote isolation, interlocking, batching or process control sequencing.

Is it a throttling valve?
No. It is primarily an on/off isolation valve. Modulating service should be evaluated separately due to seat wear and ball erosion risk.

What maintenance points are relevant?
Check seat condition, stem sealing, clamp gasket compatibility and actuator alignment during scheduled maintenance, especially in frequent-cycling CIP or washdown service.
