Y-Type Strainers Comeval UNIFLOW Fig. F0

UNIFLOW Fig. F0 are cast Y-type strainers designed for mechanical retention of solids in process lines. They utilize a removable stainless steel mesh or perforated basket, accessible via the cover, with a drain plug for blowdown prior to cleaning. These strainers protect pumps, control valves, steam traps, heat exchangers, and instrumentation from weld debris, rust, and particulate fouling.

Variants and Connections

  • ANSI range: Class 150, 300, 600.
  • DIN range: PN40, DN15–DN600 in cast steel 1.0619+N.
  • Connections: Flanged RF/RTJ to ASME B16.5, butt weld to ASME B16.25, or EN 1092-2 type 21/B flanges.
  • Materials: ASTM A216 WCB, ASTM A105N, A217 alloy steels, stainless versions CF8/CF8M/CF3/CF3M, selected per temperature and media.

Mesh and Sealing

Standard mesh sizes: 1 mm for DN50, 1.25 mm for DN80, 1.6 mm for DN100–DN300 (ANSI). DIN PN40: 1 mm up to DN50, 1.25 mm for DN65–80, 1.6 mm for DN100–DN300. Cover sealing is achieved with graphite gasket reinforced with stainless steel.

Applications

Suitable for steam, condensate, thermal oils, lubricants, compressed air, gases, and compatible industrial liquids. For pump suction, vacuum, hydraulic shock, or high flow velocities, reinforced mesh should be considered.

Standards and Compliance

ANSI: ASME B16.34, ASME B16.10, ASME B16.5, ASME B16.25, MSS SP-25, API 598. DIN PN40: EN 12516, EN 558 S1, EN 1092-2, EN 19, EN 12266-1. PED 2014/68/EU compliant.

Installation and Maintenance

Flow direction must follow the arrow on the body. Mesh should not face upwards; in vertical lines, mesh must point down. Flush piping and check cover for leakage before commissioning. Clean mesh when differential pressure rises or flow decreases; always replace gasket after opening.

FAQ

Actuator compatibility?
No. This is a passive in-line strainer.

When to select ANSI vs DIN?
Use ANSI when the piping class is ASME/ANSI and flanges are RF or RTJ.

When is special mesh required?
For pump suction, vacuum, pulsating flow, or frequent clogging.
