Y-Type Strainers Comeval UNIWAT 630W

UNIWAT 630W are Y-type pipeline strainers designed for mechanical retention of solids in water networks. They feature a removable perforated stainless steel basket accessible via the cover. Typical installation points include upstream of pumps, control valves, water meters, heat exchangers, and HVAC equipment to reduce ingress of sludge, rust, or particulates into the system.

Construction and Materials

  • Body/Cover: EN-JL1040 GG25 or EN-JS1050 GGG50.
  • Screen: Stainless steel SS304.
  • Bolts: Stainless A2-70.
  • Sealing: NBR or EPDM.
  • Internal and external epoxy coating, blue RAL5005 approx., average thickness 250 μm.

Operating Conditions

Standard version is PN16, with EN 1092-2 type 21/B flanges and EN 558 S1 / DIN 3202 F1 face-to-face length. Suitable for fresh water and neutral liquids (group 2 per PED 2014/68/EU). For NBR: TS -10 to 80°C; for EPDM: up to 110°C (general design).

Screen Selection and Hydraulic Assessment

Standard perforation: 1.2 mm for DN40–50, 1.6 mm for DN65–150, 3.1 mm for DN200–300. Selection should consider flow rate, Kvs, allowable pressure drop, and fouling rate. For pump suction, vacuum, high velocities, or water hammer, reinforced screens may be required.

Installation and Maintenance

Basket must not be positioned at the top of the pipe. Horizontal installation or vertical flow downwards is preferred, following the flow arrow. Allow space for cover removal, screen cleaning, and use of the drain plug.

Standards and Certifications

Design: EN 12516; Marking: EN 19; Testing: EN 12266-1; PED 2014/68/EU up to Category I. Declaration of conformity covers flanged Y-strainers UNIWAT 630W, PN16, DN15–600. WRAS certificate validity should be confirmed in the current WRAS listings for potable water use.

FAQ

Actuator compatibility?
No. This is a passive in-line strainer; actuators are not applicable.

When to select EPDM?
For water applications requiring EPDM compatibility and higher temperature limits than NBR.

Suitable for steam?
Not as standard. Documentation covers water and neutral group 2 liquids only.
