Cast Flow HP Dual Plate – High Pressure Dual Plate Check Valve

The Cast Flow HP Dual Plate is a dual plate check valve designed for installation between flanges in piping systems where short face-to-face dimensions and prevention of reverse flow at elevated pressure ratings are required. The two plates open under differential pressure and are returned by springs. No actuator is used.

Technical Specifications

  • Type: Dual plate check valve, wafer or flanged, per API 594.
  • Pressure Classes: ANSI 150#, ANSI 300#, ANSI 600#, PN40, PN100.
  • Dimensions: API 594 up to DN700, subject to manufacturing.
  • Face-to-face: API 594 standard.
  • Testing: EN 12266 / ISO 5208 or API 598.
  • Body Materials: EN-GJS-400-15, carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, bronze-aluminium.
  • Seat Options: NBR, EPDM, Viton, Neoprene, Klingerit, or metal-to-metal.

Applications

Suitable for high-pressure pump stations, water transmission, desalination, RO lines, fire protection, and industrial networks where reverse flow may impact pumps, membranes, or downstream equipment. For seawater or brine, material selection should consider chloride content, temperature, flow velocity, and PREN.

Installation and Operation

For standard springs, recommended flow velocity is 2.5–4 m/s. Outside this range, alternative spring torque is required. For vertical flow, from DN200 and above, low-torque or high-torque springs may be necessary depending on flow direction.

Do not install immediately downstream of a pump, elbow, or reducer. Minimum recommended straight lengths: 5×DN upstream of flow disturbance and 2×DN downstream for pressure recovery. Pulsating or intermittent flow requires separate assessment.

Standards / Certifications

Cast Flow is referenced with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and PED Annex III Module H.

FAQ

When is metal-to-metal seating selected?
When temperature or media are incompatible with elastomers.

What does noise from the plates indicate?
Typically low flow, insufficient straight run, or incorrect spring torque.

SPECIAL ALLOYS

Over the years the most frequent used materials on the desalination market have been the so called “Superstainless” or “ superaustenitic”, which anti corrosive properties are superior to austenitic steels.

Due to the price increment on the prime materials and as an alternative more competitive for these materials, Duplex and Superduplex of second generation have been introduced in the market of desalination.

The family of Duplex and Super duplex Stainless steels offer a significant advantage over Standard austinic steels.

The 50/50 ferrite /austenite structure gives improved corrosion and abrasion resistance together with improved tensile and yield properties.

Duplex Composition range is obtained by a complex structure, and therefore requires a much greater degree of technology, melting and process control compared with austenitic stainless steel constructions.

CASTFLOW VALVES S.L. has been experiencing the production of check valves in Duplex stainless steel for the last years, increasing our knowledge on the complex casting technology.

PITTING RESISTANCE EQUIVALENT NUMBER (PREN)

The resistance to pitting of an alloy is of vital importance , particularly so in handling seawater. Assessment of resistance to pitting is often made by use of a pitting resistance equivalent number which, when this takes account of Cr Mo and N is referred to as a PREn Number.

Calculation is made on the basis of the following.

PREN= %Cr+ 3.3%Mo16%N

PREN-768x489
