Ball Valve wafer - Type FC1 | ADLER

ADLER FC1 Wafer Ball Valve

The ADLER FC1 is a full-bore wafer ball valve for isolation duty on higher-pressure industrial lines. It is installed between EN 1092-1 or ANSI B16.5 flanges and covers PN63–PN160 and ANSI Class 600–1500 applications.

Technical Characteristics

  • Nominal sizes: DN15–DN300
  • Body materials: ASTM A105, ASTM A479 304/304L, ASTM A479 316/316L
  • Ball materials: 304/316 stainless steel or CF8/CF8M
  • Seat options: reinforced PTFE or stainless steel
  • Stem sealing: PTFE or graphite chevron rings
  • Anti blow-out stem design
  • Antistatic device
  • ISO top mounting for actuator installation

Standards and Certifications

Design and construction references include BS EN 12516-2, ANSI B16.34, ISO 14313 and EN 558. Available executions may include PED 2014/68/EU, ATEX 2014/34/EU, ISO 15848, fire-safe design to BS 6755/API 607 and ISO 10497, and SIL 3 capability according to IEC 61508.

Suitable Media and Applications

  • Steam and condensate lines, subject to seat and packing temperature limits
  • Process water and utility water
  • Compressed air systems
  • Neutral or corrosive gases compatible with the selected body and trim materials
  • Industrial liquids compatible with PTFE, graphite and stainless steel wetted parts

Selection Logic

The FC1 is selected where a compact wafer body is required but the pressure class is above standard low-pressure ball valve ranges. For steam or thermally cycled service, valve selection should check design pressure, operating temperature, pipe expansion loads, stem emission requirements, seat material and the need for fire-safe construction.

Variant Differences

  • Carbon steel body: typical for non-corrosive fluids and steam service where material compatibility permits.
  • 304/304L stainless steel body: used for general corrosion resistance and clean industrial utilities.
  • 316/316L stainless steel body: used where chlorides or more aggressive fluids require improved corrosion resistance.
  • PTFE-based seats: tight shut-off for compatible fluids within the approved pressure-temperature envelope.
  • Metal seats: considered where temperature, erosion or fire-safe requirements limit polymer seat use.

Actuation and Control

The valve can be fitted with pneumatic or electric actuators for on/off service in PLC, DCS or ESD systems. Actuator sizing should account for differential pressure, breakaway torque, seat type, safety factor, air supply pressure and required fail position.

FAQ

Is the FC1 suitable for throttling?

It is primarily an isolation valve. Continuous throttling should be avoided unless the duty has been reviewed for cavitation, noise, seat wear and partial-opening stability.

What should be checked before ordering?

Confirm DN, pressure class, flange standard, body material, seat material, packing type, fire-safe or ATEX requirements, actuator interface and media compatibility.
