Ball Valve wafer - Type FB1 | ADLER

ADLER FB1 Wafer Type Ball Valve

The ADLER FB1 is a full-bore wafer type ball valve for flow isolation in steam, water, compressed air and compatible industrial fluids. It is installed between flanges and uses a reduced face-to-face length compared with a fully flanged ball valve.

Technical Data

  • Nominal sizes: DN15 to DN300
  • Pressure rating: PN16 to PN160 / ANSI Class 150 to Class 1500
  • Flange standard: DIN/EN or ANSI/ASME execution, according to project specification
  • Connection: wafer type, mounted between pipeline flanges
  • Body materials: carbon steel or stainless steel
  • Available stainless grades: ASTM A351 CF8, ASTM A351 CF8M
  • Seats: PTFE or reinforced PTFE RPTFE
  • Operation: lever, gearbox, pneumatic actuator or electric actuator

Operating Use

The full-bore design limits pressure loss when the valve is fully open. The wafer body is normally selected where installation length, valve weight or pipe rack clearance are restricted. It is used for on/off isolation, not for continuous throttling service.

Suitable Media

  • Steam, subject to seat temperature and pressure limits
  • Water and treated process water
  • Compressed air
  • Neutral gases
  • Chemical liquids or gases after compatibility check with CF8/CF8M and PTFE/RPTFE

Seat Selection

PTFE seats are used for clean fluids and normal operating cycles within the permitted pressure-temperature envelope. RPTFE is selected where higher seat mechanical strength, improved wear resistance or more frequent cycling is required. Suspended solids, crystallising fluids and high differential pressure can affect seat life and shut-off performance.

Wafer Versus Fully Flanged Design

  • Wafer type: shorter face-to-face, lower installed weight, requires correct flange alignment and bolt loading.
  • Fully flanged type: easier removal from the line in some layouts, longer body, higher weight.

Automation and Control

The valve can be fitted with pneumatic or electric actuators for on/off service from PLC, DCS, BMS or local control panels. Actuator sizing shall consider DN, pressure class, breakaway torque, service temperature, air supply pressure or electrical voltage, cycle frequency and required fail-safe position.

Typical Applications

  • Steam headers and branch isolation
  • HVAC and utility water systems
  • Compressed air distribution
  • Process skid isolation
  • Chemical and industrial fluid lines after material verification

FAQ

Can it be used for modulating control? It is primarily an isolation valve. For control service, a characterized control valve is normally preferred.

What must be checked before ordering? DN, pressure class, flange standard, body material, seat material, medium, temperature, actuator requirement and leakage class expectations.
