Ball Valve wafer - Type FA1 | ADLER

ADLER FA1 Wafer Ball Valve

The ADLER FA1 is a full-bore wafer-type ball valve for flow isolation in industrial pipework where a short face-to-face dimension is required between flanges.

Key Technical Data

  • Sizes: DN15–DN300
  • Pressure ratings: PN10–PN40, ANSI Class 150–300
  • Body materials: ASTM A105, ASTM A479 304/304L or 316/316L
  • Ball materials: stainless steel 304/316 or CF8/CF8M
  • Seats: PTFE or RPTFE
  • Connection: wafer installation between EN 1092-1 or ANSI B16.5 flanges
  • Full bore according to ISO 14313

Standards and Certifications

Design and manufacture are in accordance with BS EN 12516-2, ANSI B16.34, ISO 14313 and EN 558. Available configurations include PED 2014/68/EU, ATEX 2014/34/EU, ISO 15848, fire-safe design to BS 6755/API 607 and ISO 10497, anti-static device and SIL 3 capable assessment according to IEC 61508.

Operating Characteristics

The wafer body reduces installed length and weight compared with a conventional flanged ball valve. The anti blow-out stem, chevron stem packing and anti-static arrangement support use in gas, steam and flammable-fluid duties where stem leakage and electrostatic discharge must be considered.

Temperature and pressure limits shall be checked against the selected body material, seat material and applicable pressure-temperature rating. PTFE is normally selected for broad chemical compatibility; RPTFE is used where higher seat mechanical strength or improved resistance to deformation is required.

Suitable Media

  • Steam
  • Water and process water
  • Compressed air
  • Neutral or corrosive gases, subject to material compatibility
  • Industrial liquids compatible with PTFE/RPTFE seats and selected body metallurgy

Typical Applications

  • Isolation on compact skid-mounted process units
  • Steam, condensate and utility headers
  • Compressed-air distribution
  • Chemical and water-treatment pipework
  • OEM packages where short face-to-face dimensions are required

Actuation Options

The valve can be fitted with pneumatic or electric actuators using ISO mounting. Actuator sizing should consider DN, differential pressure, break torque, operating frequency, media condition and fail-safe position. Accessories may include limit switches, solenoid valves, positioners and manual overrides.

Variant Selection

  • A105: general carbon-steel service with compatible non-corrosive fluids.
  • 304/304L: process water, mildly corrosive fluids and clean utility service.
  • 316/316L: higher corrosion resistance for more aggressive process media.
  • PTFE seats: chemical compatibility and low friction.
  • RPTFE seats: improved mechanical strength under higher load conditions.

FAQ

When is a wafer ball valve preferred? When installation space, weight or flange-to-flange length is limited.

Is it suitable for throttling? It is primarily an on/off isolation valve. Continuous throttling can damage soft seats and increase leakage risk.

What must be verified before ordering? DN, pressure class, flange standard, body material, seat material, media, temperature, differential pressure, certification needs and actuation requirements.
