Ghidini 4230 A/E 4G 2-Way Ball Valve

The Ghidini 4230 A/E is a flat-body, full-bore, 2-way ball valve with contained ball design and Integral Seal construction. It is intended for on/off isolation duties where short face-to-face length, controlled sealing around the ball, and reduced installation envelope are required.

A jacketed version is available for fluids that must be kept above a defined temperature to limit viscosity increase, crystallisation, or solidification.

Technical Characteristics

  • Body material: AISI 316L / 1.4404 stainless steel
  • Sizes: DN15 to DN100
  • Connection: tapped holes for flanges to UNI EN 1092-1, PN 10–40
  • Pressure classes: PN 16 / PN 25 / PN 40
  • Flow passage: full bore
  • Seats: Virgin PTFE
  • Temperature range: -20°C to +160°C
  • Actuation interface: ISO 5211 mounting flange for actuator installation
  • Required accessories: mounting kit Art. 747540 or hand lever Art. 9354112

Typical Applications and Suitable Media

The 4230 A/E is used in chemical process lines, food-related services, edible and industrial oils, fats, and fluids where compact installation length is a selection criterion. The full-bore design limits pressure drop compared with reduced-port valves and is suitable for isolation of clean or moderately viscous liquids compatible with AISI 316L and Virgin PTFE.

The jacketed version is selected for temperature-sensitive media such as viscous oils, fatty products, wax-like fluids, or crystallising liquids where heat tracing or thermal maintenance is required during operation or standby.

Operation and Actuation

  • Primary function: on/off shut-off, not flow regulation
  • Manual operation: by compatible lever assembly
  • Automated operation: pneumatic or electric actuator via ISO 5211 interface and suitable mounting kit
  • Selection checks: torque, pressure class, media temperature, seat compatibility, and actuator duty cycle

Difference from Ghidini 4130 A/E

The 4230 A/E uses Virgin PTFE seats and has a stated temperature limit up to +160°C. The 4130 A/E is specified with modified virgin PTFE and a temperature limit up to +170°C. Valve selection should consider seat material compatibility, operating temperature, cleaning conditions, and expected cycling frequency.

FAQ

Is the 4230 A/E suitable for throttling?
No. It is intended for isolation service. Partially open operation can increase seat wear and may affect shut-off tightness.

When is the contained ball design selected?
It is used where a compact body, limited installation length, and controlled sealing around the ball are required.
