Ghidini 4001 4G 2-Way Jacketed Ball Valve

The Ghidini 4001 is a 2-way, full-bore, wafer-pattern ball valve with a heating jacket. It is used on process lines where the fluid must be kept within a controlled temperature range to prevent solidification, excessive viscosity increase, or product hold-up around the valve body.

Variant Selection

  • AISI 304L is generally used for non-aggressive fluids and standard industrial service.
  • AISI 316L is preferred for improved corrosion resistance, especially with chlorides or more aggressive chemicals.
  • DIN and ANSI versions should be selected according to the mating flange standard and plant piping specification.
  • Seat material selection must consider temperature, chemical compatibility, cycling frequency, and leakage requirements.

Actuation and Operation

The standard configuration is manual lever operation for on/off isolation. If pneumatic or electric actuation is required, operating torque, seat material, temperature, line pressure, actuator safety position, and mounting arrangement should be verified during specification.

Standards and Certifications

On request, the valve can be supplied with antistatic execution according to ATEX II 2G Ex h IIC T4 Gb / II 2D Ex h IIIC T135°C Db. M.O.C.A. compliance according to CE 1935/2004 is available for applicable food-contact duties.

Maintenance and Leakage Considerations

As with other soft-seated ball valves, seat wear is influenced by temperature, solids content, differential pressure, and operating frequency. The heating jacket should be kept in service when required by the process to prevent product build-up and increased breakaway torque.

When is a heating jacket specified?
When the valve body must be kept at a stable temperature to maintain fluidity, prevent crystallization, or reduce product retention.

Is this a throttling valve?
No. It is intended for on/off isolation. Continuous throttling may damage the ball and seats and can increase leakage over time.
