Valpres 761031 ANSI 300 split-body ball valve
The Valpres 761031 is a two-piece flanged ball valve for ANSI 300 / PN50 process lines. The valve body is ASTM A352 LCB carbon steel, with ball options in A479 TP304 or A351 CF8 and stem options in A479 TP304 or 17-4 PH. The range covers DN15 to DN200, with an operating temperature range from -20°C to +160°C and vacuum service capability down to 10⁻³ torr.
Sealing arrangement and seats
The sealing system uses PTFE seats filled with fiberglass, a PTFE stem seat, PTFE thrust washer, Graphoil on the stem and body seat area, and an FKM O-ring. This configuration is intended for isolation duty in on/off service. It should not be selected for continuous throttling or modulating control unless the process conditions have been separately validated.
Typical applications
- industrial water and utility circuits
- compressed air and inert gas distribution
- process liquids compatible with carbon steel / LCB and PTFE
- vacuum service
- ANSI 300 process lines requiring flanged isolation valves
Suitable media and operating limits
Media compatibility should be checked against the wetted materials, seal materials, operating temperature, pressure, and cleaning requirements. The valve is generally used on non-abrasive fluids where tight isolation is required. For steam, thermal cycling, or fluids containing solids, seat wear and leakage class expectations should be reviewed before selection.
Diameter selection and pressure drop
Available Kv values range from 19.2 to 6816.6. Valve size should be selected from the required flow rate, allowable pressure drop, line velocity, and available actuator torque. For DN200, a trunnion configuration is referenced with Δp 25 bar; this parameter should be verified where high differential pressure or frequent operation is expected.
Variants and material differences
- Ball: A479 TP304 or A351 CF8 stainless steel, selected according to corrosion compatibility and specification requirements.
- Stem: A479 TP304 or 17-4 PH, with 17-4 PH typically considered where higher mechanical strength is required.
- Sizes: DN15–DN200, with torque and actuator sizing increasing significantly at larger diameters and higher Δp.
Actuation and automation
The valve includes an ISO mounting pad from F04 to F12 for pneumatic or electric actuators. Actuator selection should consider breakaway torque, differential pressure, operating frequency, fail-safe position, air supply pressure, limit switches, solenoid valves, and site electrical classification.
Standards and certifications
- TÜV SIL 3 for safety instrumented system assessment
- Fire Safe design tested to EN ISO 10497 / API 607
- Fugitive emissions test according to ISO 15848-1
- Pressure class: ANSI 300 / PN50
Engineering notes
- Use for isolation, not for continuous flow control.
- Confirm seat compatibility with temperature, fluid chemistry, and pressure cycling.
- Check actuator torque margins for cold starts, high Δp, and infrequent operation.
- Plan maintenance access for packing inspection and actuator removal.
FAQ
Can it be automated? Yes. The ISO F04–F12 mounting pad allows pneumatic or electric actuation.
Is it suitable for vacuum? Yes, the valve is specified for vacuum service down to 10⁻³ torr.
Can it be used as a control valve? It is intended for on/off isolation. Continuous throttling may damage the seats and should be avoided unless specifically approved for the duty.
