Ball Valve Class 150/300 Guided Ball - Type 1515/1530 FB | JC

JC 1515/1530 FB Guided Ball Valve Class 150/300

Two-way split-body, full-bore ball valve with ANSI flanged ends and guided ball construction for isolation service in industrial liquid and gas systems. Available in ASME Class 150 and Class 300, with ASTM A216 WCB, ASTM A351 CF8M or ASTM A352 LCC body materials and PTFE seats.

Construction

  • Full bore design to limit pressure drop and allow piggable or low-restriction flow paths where applicable
  • Blowout-proof stem for pressure-retaining stem retention
  • Non-removable antistatic device between ball, stem and body
  • Cavity pressure equalising hole to reduce trapped-pressure effects
  • Live-loaded packing for improved stem sealing under thermal and pressure cycling
  • ANSI flanged connection for installation between standard pipe flanges

Standards and Compliance

Applicable references include API 6D, PED, MSS SP 55, ATEX, Fire-Safe API 607 / ISO 10497 / API 6FA and fugitive emissions ISO 15848 / TA-LUFT. Wetted parts can be specified for NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 and NACE MR0103 / ISO 17945 service.

Suitable Media and Operating Conditions

  • Hydrocarbons, natural gas, process gases, water, condensate and compatible chemical fluids
  • PTFE seating is typically selected for clean fluids and moderate temperature service; final limits depend on pressure class, body material and medium
  • WCB for general carbon steel process service, CF8M for corrosion resistance, LCC for low-temperature carbon steel applications
  • Class 150 or Class 300 selection shall follow ASME pressure-temperature rating, differential pressure, shut-off requirement and flange specification

Class 150 vs Class 300 Selection

Class 150 is normally used where line pressure and temperature remain within the lower ASME rating envelope. Class 300 is selected for higher design pressure, higher differential pressure, or where the piping class requires 300 lb flanges. Valve torque and actuator sizing must be checked against maximum differential pressure.

Typical Applications

  • Oil and gas gathering, processing and transfer lines
  • Chemical and petrochemical plants
  • Power generation auxiliary systems and fuel handling
  • Pulp and paper, food and pharmaceutical utilities where material compatibility is verified
  • Marine, tank terminals, mining, waste management and general fluid transfer

Actuation and Operation

The valve may be supplied for manual operation by lever or gearbox, or prepared for pneumatic, electric or hydraulic actuation. Actuator selection should consider break torque, running torque, safety factor, fail position, cycle frequency and available utilities.

Application Notes

Guided ball construction is used where stable ball guidance and controlled seat loading are required during operating cycles. It is relevant for isolation duties with repeated operation, differential pressure, and defined leakage requirements from both seat and stem packing areas.

FAQ

Is this a control valve? No. It is primarily an on/off isolation valve. Throttling service should be reviewed separately because partially open ball valves can generate seat wear, noise and cavitation depending on the fluid.

When is fire-safe certification relevant? It is specified in hydrocarbon, gas and critical process services where external fire exposure must not lead to uncontrolled leakage beyond the limits of the referenced standard.

What should be checked before procurement? Pressure class, flange standard, material compatibility, temperature, differential pressure, fugitive emission requirement, NACE requirement, actuator torque and end-user maintenance access.
