Genebre 2034S socket-weld ball valve

The Genebre 2034S is a three-piece, full-port ball valve with socket-weld ends to ANSI/ASME B16.11. The body is carbon steel WCB, with stainless steel 316 ball and stem, PTFE + 15% glass-fibre seats, 1000 WOG pressure rating, and operating temperature range from -25°C to +180°C, subject to pressure-temperature derating and media compatibility.

Application notes

Socket-weld construction reduces potential leakage paths associated with threaded joints, but it requires qualified welding procedures. The installation should account for WPS/PQR requirements, heat input control and protection of PTFE-based seats from welding temperature exposure.

The three-piece design allows the centre body to be removed for inspection or seat replacement if sufficient pipework clearance and bolting access are provided during installation.

Comparison with other end connections

  • Socket-weld: compact welded joint, suitable for small-bore carbon steel process lines.
  • Threaded: easier removal, but more leakage-sensitive under vibration or thermal cycling.
  • Flanged: easier line removal, but larger envelope and additional gasketed joints.

FAQ

Can the valve be welded with the seats installed?
Heat input must be controlled. Where practical, remove or protect the centre section to prevent thermal damage to PTFE/GF seats.

Is it suitable for steam?
Only if the pressure-temperature rating, seat material and manufacturer data confirm suitability for the specific steam condition.

Why select this valve instead of a threaded ball valve?
Use socket-weld ends where a permanent welded joint is preferred and threaded leakage risk is not acceptable.
