Ball Valve 5530 Series | 4G Ghidini

Ghidini 5530 4G Ball Valve

Two-way, three-piece, full-bore ball valve with Integral Seal design and rotating round butt-weld ends. The body is AISI 316L / 1.4404, intended for industrial pipework where welded installation is required and external leakage points must be reduced.

Technical data

  • Connections: butt-weld BS-OD / ASTM A270, DIN 11850, ISO 1127
  • Sizes: DN10–DN100 or DN15–DN100, depending on tube standard
  • Pressure classes: PN16, PN25, PN40, PN64
  • Bore: full bore
  • Seats: virgin PTFE
  • Temperature range: -20°C to +160°C, subject to pressure and media compatibility
  • Operation: stainless steel lever or actuator-ready configuration
  • Actuator interface: ISO 5211 / DIN 3337
  • External finish: polished

Typical applications and suitable media

The 5530 is used for line isolation in process water, clean water, food and beverage lines, inert gases, compatible chemicals, and steam within PTFE limits. The full-bore passage reduces pressure loss and avoids a restriction at the valve body.

Valve selection criteria

  • Pipe DN and tube standard for weld-end compatibility
  • Operating pressure and required PN rating
  • Medium temperature during normal operation, cleaning, or steam service
  • Chemical compatibility of AISI 316L body and PTFE seats
  • Manual operation versus pneumatic or electric actuation
  • Maintenance access for three-piece body disassembly

Variants and automation

The valve can be supplied with a stainless steel manual lever or with an ISO 5211 / DIN 3337 mounting pad for pneumatic or electric actuators. This allows use in automated isolation duties, batch processes, utility skids, and process control systems requiring open/closed feedback.

Standards and certifications

On request, the 5530 can be supplied with an antistatic device suitable for ATEX II 2G Ex h IIC T4 Gb / II 2D Ex h IIIC T135°C Db. MOCA / EC 1935/2004 compliance for food contact applications is also available on request.

Comparison with threaded valves

A butt-weld valve is normally selected where permanent welded pipework, line cleanliness, and reduction of potential threaded leakage points are required. A threaded valve is easier to remove but introduces additional joints and may be less suitable for clean process lines.

FAQ

Is this valve suitable for flow control?
No. It is an on/off isolation valve, not a throttling valve.

When is the 5530 preferred over a threaded ball valve?
When the system specification requires welded installation, clean pipework, and fewer external leakage paths.
