Valpres Euro-Sfer Cast Iron Flanged Ball Valve

The Valpres Euro-Sfer is a DIN flanged ball valve for flow isolation in PN6 and PN16 pipework. It is intended for on/off service in low and medium pressure utility systems where a cast iron body is acceptable.

The body material is EN-GJL-250. Depending on the version, the connection end is ASTM A105, the ball is A351 CF8 or A479 TP304, and the stem is A479 TP304 or 17-4 PH. For the PN16 version, the stated temperature range is -10°C to +120°C. Vacuum capability is indicated up to 10⁻³ torr.

The valve uses PTFE seats, PTFE stem seat, PTFE or TFM thrust washer, and NBR or FKM O-rings depending on the specific code. Elastomer selection must be checked against the fluid, operating temperature, cleaning chemicals, and expected exposure time.

• NBR: commonly used for water, air, and compatible utility media.
• FKM: selected where higher chemical or temperature resistance is required, subject to compatibility verification.
• PTFE/TFM: low-friction seating materials suitable for shut-off service, not for continuous throttling.

Suitable Media and Operating Conditions

The Euro-Sfer is normally selected for clean or moderately clean non-corrosive fluids. It is not the first choice for corrosive chemicals, aggressive condensate, abrasive slurries, or installations where plant specifications exclude cast iron pressure parts.

Actuation and Operation

Manual lever operation is typical. For automated service, actuator selection must be based on valve size, differential pressure, breakaway torque, cycle frequency, and the available mounting arrangement. Large sizes require particular attention to torque margin.

Selection Logic

Use this valve where economical flanged isolation is required in PN6 or PN16 utility pipework and stainless steel body construction is not required. Select an alternative valve type or material for corrosive service, frequent cycling at high torque, or throttling control.

Maintenance and Leakage Considerations

PTFE seats reduce friction against the ball, but the valve should be operated mainly fully open or fully closed. Prolonged operation in a partially open position can erode or deform the seats, increasing operating torque and internal leakage.

FAQ

Can it be used for modulating control? No. It is an isolation ball valve and should not be specified as a control valve.

Is it suitable for steam? Steam suitability must be verified against the exact version, pressure, temperature, seat materials, and elastomers. Do not assume suitability from PN rating alone.

What should be checked before procurement? DN, PN class, flange standard, body acceptance, elastomer compatibility, temperature range, Kv requirement, operating torque, and any project certification requirements.
