Genebre 2035 for District Heating Networks

Genebre 2035 is a one-piece welded ball valve with reduced bore construction for district heating and hot water service. The body is carbon steel, with welded ends for permanent installation on steel pipework.

Operating Conditions

  • Pressure class: PN25
  • Temperature range: up to +200°C
  • Function: isolation, on/off service
  • Connection: welded ends
  • Typical media: treated hot water, heating water, glycol-water mixtures where compatible with seat and seal materials

Typical Applications

  • Primary and secondary district heating circuits
  • Hot water circulation lines
  • Boiler rooms, heat exchangers, and substations
  • Buried pipework and pre-insulated piping systems
  • Section isolation for maintenance and network commissioning

Engineering Selection Notes

The reduced bore design gives a higher pressure drop than a full bore ball valve of the same nominal size. Valve sizing should consider flow rate, allowable Δp, supply and return temperatures, water treatment, pipe stress, and welding procedure requirements.

Reduced Bore vs Full Bore

  • Reduced bore: lower valve weight and compact body, but increased velocity and pressure loss through the valve.
  • Full bore: lower pressure drop and better suitability for pigging or flushing, but larger and usually higher cost.

Standards and Documentation

  • Specify pressure rating according to the project piping class, e.g. PN25.
  • Request pressure and leakage test documentation in accordance with applicable valve test standards, such as EN 12266, where required by the project.
  • For welded installations, request material certificates such as EN 10204 3.1 when traceability is required.
  • Confirm welding end dimensions, steel grade, and welding procedure compatibility before installation.

Sealing and Leakage Considerations

Seat and stem seal materials must be compatible with the operating temperature, treated water chemistry, and expected cycling frequency. For district heating, leakage class, stem sealing arrangement, and thermal expansion effects should be reviewed before procurement.

Actuation Options

  • Manual operation is typical for local isolation duties.
  • Gear operation may be required for larger sizes or high operating torque.
  • Electric or pneumatic actuation should only be specified if the selected valve version provides a suitable mounting interface and torque margin.

FAQ

Is the valve intended for throttling?
No. It is intended for isolation service. Continuous throttling can damage seats and increase noise, vibration, and erosion.

Can it be installed underground?
Yes, when the installation design includes suitable welded joints, corrosion protection, extension stem if required, and insulation or pre-insulation compatible with the network specification.

What must be checked before ordering?
DN size, PN class, bore type, end connection dimensions, maximum temperature, media chemistry, leakage requirements, documentation, and welding requirements.

Certificates

GENEBRE, S.A. has implemented a quality management system to control the designing and manufacturing of fluid control valves, as well as the distribution of home and public taps.

This system complies with the requirements of the current international UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015, certified by the prestigious German certification organization TÜV Rheinland.

In 2000, GENEBRE began to comply with the European Business Excellence Model, more commonly known as the EFQM. As a result, in 2003, the Catalan Regional Government awarded us with the Quality Award. This new system enables us to ensure the quality of GENEBRE's products and also to offer added value to our clients.

In 2012, we obtained the certification for the Environmental Management System. This system is certified according to the UNE-EN-ISO 14001:2015, also by TÜV Rheinland. GENEBRE QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
