Genebre 2002 NPT Ball Valve
The Genebre 2002 is a one-piece, reduced-bore ball valve with female NPT ANSI B2.1 threaded ends. The body is stainless steel CF8M / 316, with PTFE seats, nominal pressure PN63, and a temperature range of -25°C to +180°C.
Valve Construction and Selection Logic
The one-piece body reduces external leak paths compared with multi-piece designs, but it is not intended for disassembly or seat replacement during maintenance. The reduced port gives a higher pressure drop than an equivalent full-bore ball valve and should be checked where flow capacity is relevant.
This valve is primarily an isolation valve. It should not be used as a control valve for continuous throttling, especially with erosive, flashing, or high-velocity media.
Typical Applications
- instrument lines with NPT threaded connections
- small bypass, vent, and drain lines
- compressed air and inert gas services
- water and compatible industrial liquids
- auxiliary services on skids, packages, and process equipment
Suitable Media and Operating Conditions
- clean water, treated water, glycol mixtures, and compatible process fluids
- compressed air, nitrogen, and non-corrosive gases
- light industrial fluids where 316 stainless steel and PTFE are chemically compatible
- services within the applicable pressure-temperature rating of the valve
Standards, Materials, and Connections
- thread connection: female NPT to ANSI B2.1
- body material: CF8M stainless steel, equivalent to cast 316
- seat material: PTFE
- pressure class: PN63
- temperature range: -25°C to +180°C
Material certificates, PED classification, ATEX suitability, and project-specific documentation should be verified against the current manufacturer datasheet and purchase order requirements.
Sizes and Operation
The valve is available from 1/4" to 2" NPT. Operation is by manual lever with locking arrangement. For automated on/off duty, an actuator-ready valve with an ISO 5211 mounting pad is normally selected instead of this one-piece manual pattern.
Sealing Options
The standard sealing arrangement uses PTFE seats. PTFE is suitable for many clean industrial fluids but must be checked for chemical compatibility, temperature, pressure, cycling frequency, and possible seat deformation under service conditions.
Comparison with Other Ball Valve Variants
- One-piece reduced bore: compact, fewer body joints, limited maintenance access, higher pressure drop.
- Two-piece or three-piece valve: easier maintenance access, often available in full-bore configurations.
- Full-bore valve: lower pressure drop and better pigging or flushing capability where required.
- Actuated valve body: selected where pneumatic or electric remote operation is required.
FAQ
Can it be used for throttling?
It is intended for isolation. Continuous throttling can damage seats and create unstable flow conditions.
Is it suitable for steam?
Steam service must be checked against the pressure-temperature curve, PTFE limits, and local plant standards before selection.
Can it be repaired in-line?
No. The one-piece construction is not selected where routine seat replacement or internal maintenance is required.

Certificates
GENEBRE, S.A. has implemented a quality management system to control the designing and manufacturing of fluid control valves, as well as the distribution of home and public taps.
This system complies with the requirements of the current international UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015, certified by the prestigious German certification organization TÜV Rheinland.
In 2000, GENEBRE began to comply with the European Business Excellence Model, more commonly known as the EFQM. As a result, in 2003, the Catalan Regional Government awarded us with the Quality Award. This new system enables us to ensure the quality of GENEBRE's products and also to offer added value to our clients.
In 2012, we obtained the certification for the Environmental Management System. This system is certified according to the UNE-EN-ISO 14001:2015, also by TÜV Rheinland. GENEBRE QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
