Ghidini 6160 4G MIGNON Ball Valve

Two-way MIGNON ball valve for small isolation lines, manufactured with AISI 316L / 1.4404 stainless steel body and ISO 228-1 threaded connections. The valve is intended for on/off service in auxiliary circuits, sampling lines and low-flow process services.

Technical characteristics

  • Sizes: 1/4” to 1/2”
  • Pressure rating: PN40
  • Port configuration: full bore or reduced bore, depending on version
  • Seats: Virgin PTFE
  • Operating temperature: -20°C to +160°C
  • Operation: manual nylon lever
  • External finish: polished
  • Body material: AISI 316L / EN 1.4404 stainless steel
  • Thread standard: ISO 228-1

Suitable media and operating context

The 6160 is used with process water, inert gases, compatible chemicals, utility fluids and small clean-service lines. Media compatibility shall be checked against AISI 316L body material and PTFE seats, especially for chlorides, solvents, oxidising agents and elevated-temperature service.

Typical applications

  • Skid-mounted utility and instrument circuits
  • Laboratory and pilot plant supply lines
  • Sampling points and drain/vent isolation
  • Small process water or inert gas lines
  • Food and beverage auxiliary lines when MOCA CE 1935/2004 documentation is specified

Valve selection notes

The 6160 is selected where compact dimensions, stainless steel wetted parts and threaded end connections are required. It is not intended for continuous throttling or control service. Operation in a partially open position can cause local velocity increase, seat erosion and leakage across the PTFE seats.

Sealing and certification options

  • Standard sealing: Virgin PTFE seats
  • Food-contact documentation: available on request with MOCA CE 1935/2004
  • Leakage performance depends on seat condition, media cleanliness, pressure differential and operating cycles

Actuation and variants

The 6160 is supplied for manual operation with a nylon lever. If remote operation, pneumatic actuation or position feedback is required, an actuator-ready valve series or a different configuration should be selected during specification.

Comparison with type 6062

The main practical difference is the handle configuration: type 6160 uses a nylon lever, while type 6062 is supplied with a stainless steel lever. Selection normally depends on site preference, ambient conditions, cleaning requirements and mechanical robustness expectations.

FAQ

Can this valve be used for food applications?
Yes, when ordered with the required MOCA CE 1935/2004 documentation and after confirming compatibility with the process medium and cleaning regime.

Is it suitable for flow regulation?
No. It should be used as an isolation valve. For modulating service, use a control valve or a valve specifically designed for throttling.
