GESTRA DK – Thermodynamic Steam Trap
The GESTRA DK series is a thermodynamic disc steam trap designed for condensate drainage from steam lines and steam tracing. The condensate lifts the disc and is discharged; when steam reaches the trap, the increased velocity and pressure in the chamber above the disc cause the seat to close. The operation is cyclic and does not require an actuator.
Variants
- DK 45: RHOMBUSline body, integrated non-return valve and Y-type strainer, installation in any position.
- DK 47: Stainless steel compact version with integrated strainer.
- DK 57: Stainless steel compact version without strainer.
- Versions L for low condensate flow rates and H for higher flow rates.
Technical Specifications
- DK 45: DN15–DN25, PN40, flanges EN 1092-1 PN40 or ASME B16.5 Class 150/300, BSP, NPT, socket weld or butt weld.
- Materials DK45: body/cover 1.0460 / ASTM A105, bolts 1.7225 / ASTM A193 B7, controller and internal parts made of stainless steel.
- Maximum differential pressure DK45: 32 bar.
- DK 47 / DK 57: PN63 / Class 600, DN 3/8"–1", PMO 42 barg, TMA 400 °C, allowable backpressure up to 80% of upstream pressure.
Applications
Suitable for draining steam lines, headers, low points in piping, steam tracing, and superheated steam. For heat exchangers with continuous high flow or unacceptable condensate accumulation, a float steam trap is typically considered.
Maintenance and Selection
Selection is based on steam pressure, backpressure, condensate flow rate, DN, connection, and installation position. The filter of DK45/DK47 should be cleaned in new pipelines or after welding operations. For EN 10204 certificates, a declaration is required upon ordering.
