Clorius H3F – Three-Way Control Valve Cast Steel
The Clorius H3F is a flanged three-way regulating valve designed for mixing or diverting flow in thermal circuits. It is applicable for hot water, thermal oil, and other liquid media in industrial processes, district heating, central heating systems, and marine installations. The body is made of cast steel GP240GH / GS-C25, with actuator connection G1B according to ISO 228.
Series Versions
- DN20–DN65: PN40, flanges EN 1092-1 PN40, internal parts made of stainless steel.
- DN80–DN150: PN16, flanges EN 1092-2 PN16 or ANSI B16.5 Class 150, seats/cone from aluminium bronze CuAl10Fe5Ni5, and shaft from stainless steel.
Hydraulic Operation
Port AB / 1 serves as the common port. Without an actuator, the path A–AB is open and B–AB is closed via spring. With shaft loading, A–AB closes and B–AB opens proportionally. With a thermostat or standard motor, A closes with temperature increase and B opens.
Kvs and Flow Characteristics
DN20–DN65: Kvs 6.3 / 10 / 16 / 25 / 38 / 63 m³/h, with identical Kvs for mixing and diverting. The characteristic is quadratic for A–AB and nearly linear for B–AB.
DN80–DN150: Mixing Kvs 80 / 125 / 215 / 310 m³/h. In diverting, Kvs reduces to 69 / 108 / 185 / 267 m³/h with a pressure drop increase of approximately 35%.
Leakage and Selection
The H3F employs two balanced single seats. Seat leakage is ≤0.5% of Kvs per VDI/VDE 2174, thus not suitable as an isolation valve. Selection is based on Kvs, Δp, medium temperature, mixing/diverting function, actuator, and acceptable internal leakage.
Installation
For DN20–DN65, vertical or horizontal shaft is allowed. Above 170°C, a cooling unit for the thermostat or high-temperature adapter for the electric actuator is required. For DN80–DN150, a vertical shaft is necessary, preferably with the motor on top, and a free height of 400 mm for AVM/AVF 234 or 745 mm for pneumatic actuator.
