Valvosider ASME Basket Strainers

Valvosider ASME basket strainers are straight-through flow filters with a bolted cover and replaceable basket, designed for piping systems specified to ASME class ratings. Typical installation points include upstream of pumps, control valves, turbines, flow meters, heat exchangers, and steam traps, where a larger solids retention area is required compared to standard Y-strainers.

Materials and Basket Options

Bodies and covers are available in ASTM A216 WCB, ASTM A352 LCB, ASTM A217 WC6/C5/C12, and stainless grades ASTM A351 CF8, CF8C, CF8M, CF3M. Baskets are supplied in F304, F321, F316, or F316L, matched to body material. Special alloys available on request.

Sealing and Options

Class 150–1500: spiral wound gasket with stainless/graphite or RTJ. Class 2500: RTJ only. Options include drain plug, discharge valve, BW ends, RTJ flanges, DIN connections, and custom basket materials.

When is a basket strainer selected over a Y-strainer?
For higher solids loading or when cleaning frequency and basket area requirements exceed Y-strainer capabilities.

Can an actuator be fitted?
No. Basket strainers are passive inline devices.
