Valvosider DIN Basket Strainers

Valvosider DIN basket strainers are straight-through flow filters with bolted covers and replaceable screens, designed for solid retention in industrial piping upstream of pumps, control valves, flow meters, turbines, and heat exchangers. The basket geometry is selected when a larger filtration area is required compared to standard Y-strainers.

Materials and Sealing

Body and cover are available in EN-GJL-250, 1.0619, or 1.4408 depending on the model. Screens are X5CrNi18-10 or X2CrNiMo17-12-2; special alloys available on request. Cover gasket is graphite-based with stainless steel reinforcement.

Design per EN 12516. Face-to-face per EN 558 / EN 12982. Flanges per EN 1092. Butt weld ends per EN 12627 / DIN 3239. Testing per EN 12266. Marking per EN 19. CE-PED compliance and EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 certification available.

Selection and Installation

Selection based on DN, PN, body material, flow rate, mesh size, allowable pressure drop, and expected solids load. For pump suction, verify clean and dirty Δp against available NPSH.

When is a basket strainer preferred over a Y-strainer?
When higher solids holding capacity and controlled cleaning are required.

Can an actuator be fitted?
No. Basket strainers are passive inline filters.
