Mono Basket Filters Blu Zac FMBA

Blu Zac FMBA are permanent basket-type filters for liquid or gas lines where increased filtration area and solids holding capacity are required compared to Y-strainers. Typical installation points include upstream of pumps, control valves, flow meters, heat exchangers, and process equipment, especially where basket removal from a top cover is necessary for maintenance.

Construction and Connections

  • Sizes: 2″ to 24″
  • Connections: Butt weld BW per ANSI B16.25 or flanged ANSI B16.5
  • Body: Cylindrical, with flanges perpendicular to the filter element
  • Element: Cylindrical basket made from perforated plate
  • Open area: > 300% of inlet cross-section
  • Design: ASME VIII Div.1, other codes available (e.g. ASME B31.3)

Cover Types and Accessories

Available with bolted cover, clamp connectors, or bolted cover with davit. Drainage, venting, and monitoring options include drain NPT, drain flanged + blind, drain valve, vent, and pressure gauge. Support legs are used for large diameters.

Materials and Sealing

Standard body materials: ASTM A106 Gr.B, ASTM A333 Gr.6, ASTM A312 TP304, ASTM A312 TP316. Flanges per ASTM A105, A350 LF2, A182 F304, or A182 F316. Basket: AISI 304 or AISI 316. Gasket: spiral wound with graphite, W-316, IR-316, or OR-CS.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on NPS, connection class, flow rate, mesh size, allowable Δp, temperature, process fluid, and available space for cover removal. For pump suction, check clean and dirty basket pressure drop versus available NPSH.

Maintenance

Maintenance is annual or when pressure drop exceeds specified limits. Monthly inspection is recommended: line isolation, blind flange removal, basket cleaning or replacement, body cleaning, new gasket installation, and leak check on restart.

FAQ

Can it be fitted with an actuator?
No. This is a passive in-line filter.

When is a mono basket filter selected over a Y-strainer?
When higher solids capacity and top cover basket access are required.

When is a pressure gauge necessary?
When cleaning is based on pressure drop indication rather than scheduled maintenance.

Datasheet and documents

Description

Permanent filter type, offering a larger filtering surface area than other filters, ensuring minimal loss of pressure even at high flow speeds.

It has a greater capacity for accumulating particulate and is recommended for the low ratio of service periods to maintenance interventions.

Comprising a cylindrical body with connecting flanges arranged perpendicularly to the filter element, its filter element consists of a rolled perforated sheet.

Filter suitable for high pressures, easy to maintain and replace.

The standard equipment includes a screen suitable for high pressures, which is easy to maintain and replace and capable of filtration of more than 300% of the inlet area.

OPEN AREA RATIO= 100 x Mesh Open Area x Screen Area / Inlet area (The calculations are based on the filtering percentage of the mesh’s surface area only.)
