The Berluto SP 85 is an angle-type, direct-acting, spring-loaded pressure relief valve. It is designed for use in pump bypass lines, return lines, and auxiliary circuits where proportional pressure relief to a vessel or lower-pressure line is required. Suitable for steam, gases, and liquids in industrial process environments.
The SP 85 is the stainless steel variant, with body 1.4408 and wetted parts 1.4404. Unlike the brass SP 80, the SP 85 features PTFE sealing and a minimum set pressure of 0.5 bar. It is selected for applications involving aggressive media, elevated temperatures, or where brass is unsuitable due to corrosion or process requirements.
Applicable for steam, compressed air, gases, water, technical fluids, oil, unleaded gasoline, and benzene, subject to chemical compatibility. Typical uses include pump protection, bypass circuits, process skids, thermal fluid loops, and auxiliary process lines.
Selection is based on set pressure, relief flow, temperature, media, and connection thread. For continuous bypass duty, monitor return media temperature. Seat contamination can cause leakage after opening; maintain clean piping and install filtration where particulate risk exists.
Is this an on/off valve?
No. It is a proportional pressure relief valve.
When to select SP 85 over SP 80?
When stainless steel construction, PTFE sealing, or enhanced compatibility with corrosive or hot media is required.
