KITO E 16.9.2 N – Pressure/Vacuum Valve with IIB3 Flame Arrestor

The KITO VD/MC-IIB3-… is a terminal pressure/vacuum relief valve designed for installation on fixed-roof storage tanks. It provides overpressure venting and vacuum relief via weight- and/or spring-loaded mechanisms. Integrated flame arrestor elements limit flame transmission and are suitable for endurance burning scenarios.

Application and Operating Limits

This series is specified for flammable liquids in Explosion Group IIB3 with MESG ≥ 0.65 mm and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C. Typical use includes tank breathing applications requiring pressure/vacuum control and minimization of vapor losses.

  • DN 80 / DN 100 / DN 150: PN 16
  • DN 200: PN 10
  • Alternative: ASME 3", 4", 6", 8"
  • Vacuum set point: approx. 2.5–70 mbar (size dependent)
  • Pressure set point: approx. 1.7–110 mbar
  • Higher set points available upon technical review

Construction

Flame arrestor elements: KITO BEH-6-80-IIB3-K. Valve body standard in carbon steel, optional stainless steel 1.4571. BEH element housing in cast steel 1.0619 or cast stainless 1.4408. Seat, spindle, and weights in stainless 1.4571.

Sealing and Maintenance

Standard pallet seal: NBR. Options: Viton, PTFE, EPDM, or metal-to-metal. For set points ≥100 mbar, PTFE or metal seal is used. Flame arrestor element is fully replaceable for cleaning, inspection, and gap verification.

Standards and Flow Calculation

Flanges: EN 1092-1 Type B1 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF. Flow rates refer to air (ρ = 1.29 kg/m³) at 40% accumulation above set point, per DIN 4119. Type certification per EN ISO 16852, ATEX marking per 2014/34/EU.
