KITO E 14.1 N – Pressure/Vacuum Valve with Flame Arrester

The KITO VD/KL-1-IIA-…/…-A / -K is a self-actuated tank breather valve designed for installation on fixed roof storage tanks at vent openings. It provides overpressure and vacuum protection, integrated with a flame arrester element for explosion group IIA vapors, and is suitable for continuous burning endurance. The valve body is installed vertically on the tank roof.

Application and Operating Limits

Intended for flammable liquids and vapors of explosion group IIA with MESG > 0.9 mm and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C. Valve selection is based on stored product, required breathing capacity, set pressure/vacuum, and permissible emissions per site requirements.

Technical Specifications

  • Sizes: DN 50, DN 80, DN 100
  • Connections: PN 16; optionally ASME 2", 3", 4"
  • Flanges: EN 1092-1 Type B1 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF
  • Vacuum setting: 6–55 mbar (DN 50), 7–60 mbar (DN 80), 7–65 mbar (DN 100)
  • Pressure setting: >200 to 350 mbar
  • For lower pressure settings, refer to series E 14 N; higher settings on request.

Construction and Sealing

Standard body in carbon steel; stainless steel 1.4571 optional. Seat, shaft, weights, and spring components are stainless steel. Seat seal is VMQ-FEP, with options for Viton, NBR, or VMQ-PFA. Valve sealing is metallic. The flame arrester element is fully replaceable.

Functional Configuration

Pressure pallet is spring-loaded; vacuum pallet is weight-loaded. Vacuum pallet matches flange size; pressure pallet is selected per required flow rate.

Variants A and K

Type A: weather cover in PMMA. Type K: stainless steel 1.4571 cover with folding mechanism and thermal element. Side or vertical connection available; vertical DN 100 requires prior technical agreement and on-site support.

Standards and Certification

Supplied with type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852 and marked in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® VD/KL-1-IIA-…/…-A

KITO® VD/KL-1-IIA-…/…-K

  • As end-of-line armature for venting apertures on tank installations, valve is explosion-proof and endurance-burning proof for certain inflammable liquids.
  • Used mainly as venting and breather device for fixed roof tanks to prevent inadmissible pressure and vacuum and to minimize unwelcome gas losses and inadmissible emissions.
  • Approved for all materials of the explosion group IIA with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) > 0.9 and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • The housing is mounted perpendicularly on a tank roof.
  • If required by the customer, the valve is equipped with an explosion-proof condensate drain device.
