Valfonta PRV30 Direct Acting Pressure Reducer

The Valfonta PRV30 is a self-operated pressure reducer with piston compensation, designed to maintain downstream pressure despite variations in inlet pressure. The valve closes when the outlet pressure exceeds the set point, mechanically adjusted via screw and spring, requiring no external energy or impulse line.

Fluids and Sealing

Suitable for Group 2 liquids and gases, such as water, compressed air, and inert gases. Standard seals are NBR for -30 to +80°C. EPDM available up to +125°C, Viton up to +150°C, and special soft seals like PEEK or Aflas depending on the fluid.

Applications

Used in chemical labs, small sanitary circuits, compressed air, sprinkler lines, and local pressure reductions in low-flow liquids or inert gases. The 316L stainless steel construction is preferred for enhanced corrosion resistance compared to bronze versions.

Installation and Selection

Piping should be cleaned before installation, and an upstream filter is recommended. Installation guidelines specify horizontal piping, flow direction as per body markings, slow valve opening to prevent water hammer, and a downstream safety valve. Selection requires p1, p2, flow rate, medium, temperature, Kv, connection, and sealing material.

The technical brochure classifies the PRV30 under PED 2014/68/EU for Group 2 gases and liquids, PN25, DN15–DN25, article 3, without CE marking requirement. Also referenced is ATEX LOM 14.034 U technical dossier for category II 2 GD.
